Team 1 Marks 30th Anniversary

Plastics Business

Team 1 Plastics, a plastic injection molding company for the automotive industry, turns 30 years old in 2017, and the company is planning a yearlong celebration.

The Albion, Michigan-based company was started in 1987 by Craig Carrel, Gary Grigowski and Jim Capo, and will mark its 30th anniversary on Dec. 1. Its celebration includes monthly news articles highlighting milestones in Team 1’s history; a giving campaign to raise funds for local community projects; and a celebration event for the company’s team members, which will include a recommitment to the company’s Championship Dream.

An important milestone for Team 1 Plastics was the creation of its Championship Dream in 1999. This document is similar to other companies’ vision statements. Developed by input from owners and team members, it provides direction and focus for the company in four areas: customer service excellence, team member success, positive community member and freedom to succeed.

Every few years since its creation, Team 1 Plastics and its team members have reaffirmed their commitment to the Championship Dream. As a public symbol of dedication, the company owners and team members have signed their names to the printed document. The current owners (Carrel and Grigowski) and the current team members will have that same opportunity later this year as part of the company’s 30th anniversary celebration.
